The Jim Tracy
Funeral Was Special......... Very nice
services....great job by Laure and family....but so
sad.....wishing them all the best.....It was great
seeing so many Wildcats of 68 at the visitation,
service and reception. Saw some teachers,
too....Lots of Glidden people....and lots of cards
and condolences were appreciated. Great seeing Lee
Ann.....and I got to meet her entire
family.....pretty special people.....Got to visit
will all of Jim's kids.....tough times. RIP Brother.
Steve, Rick, John,
Warren, Cris, Stan/Lora and myself hung around
(telling stories), they had to escort us out....So
Much Fun.....hearing everyone tell what they
remembered of Jim, Glidden and growing up GOLD AN
BLUE......tears were flowing with
laughter.....special people.....great remembering
classmates, teachers, parents, community
people.....Precious Memories......
Wildcat News......
I
had a good talk with Roger Knute and his wife,
Kris at Jim's visitation.....Roger is dong pretty well.....He has a rare
form of cancer in his blood....has gone thru some
terrible chemo treatments and I think he said he is
preparing for stem cell procedures....He said they
will replace all of his white corpuses in his blood
and will have to spend a long time in the
hospital....but is optimistic and glad the chemo
treatments are over, or almost over....(I hope I was
accurate with this info) He looked great and had
some pretty darn good energy....Good Luck Roger....
But a
day or so ago, I got the following update from
Roger's wife:
"I
was hoping I would have news of stem cell dates for
you but Roger has hit some roadblocks. He has some
heart and pulmonary issues that have to be
addressed. We have a full day of appts Wednesday and
then a meeting with oncology May
4 to
make a new plan so hopefully better news then. Roger
continues with hemoglobin and platelet transfusions
in a regular basis but remains determined to beat
this."

Prayers for Roger, Kris and family!!
Mary Lou
Bowman was in a bad automobile accident.....in a car with 5
people...the car was totaled, but NO ONE was
seriously hurt......Wow...I think this happened in
Oklahoma.
Randy
Rohrbeck's Mother Passed Away......I think she was
in her high 90s.....Stan and Lora
attended.....always wishing the best for Randy and
family.....We run into Reggie Rohrbeck,
sometimes.....
My sister in law....Maxine Walkup Tryon passed away
a couple of weeks ago....Services were in Glidden
last Saturday....tons of Tryons were there....Maxine
was the wife of my oldest, brother Ray....who passed
in 1991....She was almost 90 and her and Ray had six
kids...She lived many years in
Glidden......but also-Colorado Springs, Spencer and
Iowa City......She was a very strong lady and had a
tough life......she was an Aunt to Mary Lou Epperly......
l heard
that Mary Butler Huff is having more medical
issues.....she has been struggling for quite some
time.....Mary made a couple of Wildcat
lunches.....She lives in Carroll....Wildcat Strong
Mary......all of us are dealing with
issues......some more severe than
others.....Prayers!!
Jim
Irlmeier, honorary member of the Class of 68, is
struggling with various ailments....He has good and
not so good days....Mainly breathing issues......He
is on oxygen....doing rehab and lots of doctor
visits......Prayers for Jim and family.....I heard
Jim/Peggy had great, great family times over
Easter!! Jim and Peggy are two people that I went
decades without seeing, but now are very good
friends!!
I
do not hear very much in news of our
classmates.....If you ever want to share, just email
me.....not to gossip, but we all have this
bond.......
The
Story That Never Ends.......
I know I have told
this story a zillion times.....Sorry for boring you....but
it was such a watershed moment. I had not seen Tracy since
1970......About 2013 and I either got a phone call
from Jim or I called him......"Let's go see a MLB game in
Kansas City".....I got the tickets, he drove to my house in
Nevada, I drove to KC.....We had not seen each other for
over 30 years....(one exception: I was coaching at
Carroll vs the Tigers and during the pre-game warm ups this
"old guy" and his young son, Adrian, walked out on the
field.....we talked for about 5 minutes, this was in the
1995 range)......Well continuing, On our way to KC, we were
only a couple of miles out of Nevada town and we started
laughing and telling old stories.....we did it for TWO
days....non-stop.....at the end of our trip, we both agreed
we HAD to connect back with classmates/reunions
etc.....neither of us had done much of that.....that was the
beginning of the commitment to Wildcat lunches, Reunions,
newsletters etc. We both discovered that we ALL spent our
childhoods (13 years or so) in that school building....and
now that we are OLD we discovered that we all sound the
same, laugh the same and had so many shared
experiences....It was and is a bond.....and NEW friendships
have emerged and grown.......Let's embrace and share our
memories.....even the bad ones......best decision I ever
made, rediscover people that I liked and had kind of
lost.........Thanks Jimmy.........WILDCATS FOREVER

Musical Corner
So a summer or two
ago, Tracy and I were driving down HWY 30, heading to
Glidden. I have one of those Apple Car Plays in my car that
plays any song.....I asked Jimbo what his favorite song
was.....He told me and I laughed, then played it......I
thought it might be the Temptations...No, but what he said I
remembered hearing him listening to it in the 1960s.....He
start\ed singing it and he new all the words......about half
way thru the song, the background singers start singing the
doop dee doos....so I sang that....Here were these two old
farts....driving down the road acting like
teenagers.......then we pulled into the Dairy Mart and had
lemon ice cream....What a treat.....the ice cream, not the
talent......Here is the song:
Well,
We Thought It Would Be Fun....
8 Tryons entered the
Glidden Booster Club Trivia Night Contest....3 were in their
70s......extremely expensive and very
disappointing......Nevada does this 5 times a year and has
35-55 teams of 8 competing....100 questions about real
trivia stuff.....Glidden had 8 tables, counting
us.....oldest questions asked were 2000, a few
1990s......only 45 questions and took hours to
compete....only 2 categories Pop Culture and Name That
Tune.......(Nevada has 10 categories......Never again for
me......My daughter and a grand daughter helped out and
stole 2 Tryon sweatshirts out of my closet.....hmmmm.....one
seems to be CUT UP......Stinkers.....but it was pretty
cute.....We diminished in the middle of the pack.....
I
Received The Following Text From Lee Ann Tracy Allen:
Hi Dick. Just checking in to
see how you are doing. Probably be a different baseball
season this year☹️
really missing my brother, still doesn’t feel real
sometimes. We are going to be putting a memorial bench up by
the baseball fields this spring in memory of Jim. Have to
get it ordered this week. Hope you are doing well. Have a
blessed Easter!
Great Idea!!

CURRENT
EVENTS:
3 News Stories that you will probably never see:
* Opening Day Baseball.....a father
and son were so excited to attend the Brewers game and were
looking forward to the Patriotic Fly Over.....Here came the
planes.....the roar was exciting and awesome....as the
planes approached......just ONE small issue.....The roof to
the stadium was CLOSED.....no one saw it....but it sounded
nice......https://www.outkick.com/milwaukee-brewers-home-opening-day-american-family-field-flyover-roof-closed/
* At a Broadway Play in
NYC......Someone Pooped In The Aisle Near Hillary and
Chelsea Clinton.......now this is funny no matter
who...Obamas, Trumps, Bushes.....the Super Elite go to
Broadway and???? Where was the security
detail?......no one noticed?.....no smell?....someone
smuggle it in their purse or pocket?.....Believe It Or
Not....

Tryon Sap Of The Month......
When my parents got
upset at one of their kids, they had a term of
endearment....they would call you a SAP......"You set what
on fire?...What a SAP..." "You broke Homer Price's
window?"...SAP material......It had to be pretty
serious....Not sure if it was ever used toward the pampered
girls.....but us BOYS....no problem and we always deserved
it.....brother Randy drove a car thru the garage door....He
was about 5 years old.....SAP...(we were playing
taxi).......Randy and I threw an M-80 firecracker down an
old tree in the back yard to kill a woodpecker....tree
started on fire....Fire Department called.......2
SAPS.....My Dad at the farm would add an extra word....You
could be a SAP-@SS......after turning the tractor (while
pulling a harrow, disc or hoe) at the end of the row,
misjudging and wiping out about 15 feet of fence...dragging
and not noticing it for a hundred yards.....Yep......SAP
@SS......
So even
today, we can find a monthly Sap Story in our family.....or
nominate someone......I was the winner this month.
A couple of weeks ago, I
was home alone....and decided to cook......Now this urge
does not come my way very often......My daughter has banned
me from using the burners on the top of stove, (another
story for another time) but I can and do use the
oven.....(Jack's pizzas).....Well, she was not around, who
would know?.....I decided I could micro wave soup, but
thought I would make grilled cheese to go with the
soup.......Now, I remember what Mrs. Oxenford told us back
in middle school......butter the OUTSIDE of the
bread.....put cheese in the middle...cook until golden
brown.....use fry pan......NO PROBLEM.......even a Biden
supporter could do this.......
So I turned on the
burners.....I could not read them very well, but figured the
more I turn to the right, the higher the heat.......I
buttered slices, added cheese and gently put them in the
pan.....and waited....they were smoking pretty good and I
got to worrying that I had the burner TOO HIGH.......and
then I remembered......I had to be very careful about the handle
of the frying pan......I could have a disaster and spill and
burn every thing...including me....THE PAN'S HANDLE MUST BE TURNED TOWARD
THE INSIDE to prevent me knocking the pan to the
floor.......so I look, but I CANNOT find the handle to the
fry pan.....WTF?.......(remember my vision is not the
best)......Ooops.....then I discovered the SAP moment.....I
had put the buttered bread directly on the burner....NO
PAN.....It looked like a pan to me....Big Mistake....notice
photo.......burnt grease, butter splattering
everywhere......When my girls came home, they cleared the
smoke and noticed right away.....Grandpa's been
cooking....(How do you turn off those smoke detectors
again?).........and my sandwich was pretty crisp and
burnt......soup was good, however.....SAP OF THE
MONTH......I am now back on probation....
Oops......Mess
Looked like a fry pan to me...
