Glidden Vs Manilla
I remember playing Manilla our Junior year down in Manilla.  We had a number of players hurt...Wagner, Lappe, Snyder, and Tracy.  But John Hall played his heart out that night.  I never saw a better defensive performance that Hall did that night.  MHS had two big running backs, Dick Miller and Willie Kloewer.  We lost 26-19, but our team played hard!  Randy Peters blew his knee our that night too.  J.Tracy

The Great Two Mile Relay Team!!
I remember the great 2 mile relay teams we had, led by Roger Knute, Moorhouse, Thornton, Bushman, Loeschen, etc.  They were great fun to watch!  J.Tracy

Sky Rocket........Sky Rocket......Sis Boom Bah
Do you remember that "famous" cheer? Well, that is all of it that I can remember, but it WAS the cheer for basketball. 1967 Glidden Cheerleaders. Now, I cannot name all of them, can you? Were they just for football or the same for basketball? I LOVE the sweaters and entire outfits and I do remember that we had a great, great group of cheerleaders and they really were LEADERS!! I do need some help, though......... d.tryon (Photo by c.bentley)

Do You Remember The Hog Roast?
To kickoff the Glidden Wildcat football season, every year, (maybe the Thursday before the first game?) a farmer would donate a hog and there would be a hog roast at the parking lot in front of the gym. Barbeque pork sandwiches would be served after the players were introduced, the coaches talked, the cheerleaders led a pep rally and the band played the fight song. Everything was FREE. Imagine that, today? FREE?? This was not a fund raiser, but a celebration of school and community. Geeze, everything a school does today is for money. I remember going when my older brothers played as well as when we did. Drinks, buns, chips and beans were also donated by local businesses. Imagine celebrating, not just football, but a kickoff for school and the youth of the town. Happy Days....I would call it School and Community Spirit.....d.tryon

Don Loeschen And His Kick.....
The two mile runner and his big finish. Don would run the two mile, maybe the most boring race ever invented, but on the the final turn, he would always have this super, dooper kick, all the way to the finish line. He would pass people like they were not even trying. Don was a very talented long distance runner and he sure put a lot of time and practice into it. I also remember Don playing first base on the baseball team. A left handed stick. I have not seen Don since the day we graduated. Sure wish him and his family the best.......d.tryon
