Isaac (Ike) Jenkins Passes
Away.......
Pretty sad news. Most of us have
some fond memories of Mr. J.....He
grew up in Omaha, son of a preacher,
attended Dana College where he was
not only outstanding in music.
(Jazz) (Flute) but was also a
college wrestling star. Here are a
couple of great articles: 1)

Special Thanks to Warren R. and his
sister Barbara for finding two of
these. There are other tributes on

A Fritz Rudi
Sighting!!
Yes!! Warren and Mary headed up to
Vermont on their search for Fritz
and his wife, Barbara. Well, after
the dirt roads, crossing streams and
hiking the Green Mountains.....they
found them. Relaxing at their 200
year old home/farm. A great time was
reported. Photos by WR. Click photos

our classmates the very, very best!!
As President of
the PCI (Peggy Clark Irlmeier) Fan
Club, you all know how seriously
that I take my job. Last year, the
Peggy Diary was a big success in
helping with our Membership Drive.
This year, I have created a
television series. Starring Peggy or
course, but also with an interesting
Cast Of Characters. (emphasis on
Characters)...It will be an
exciting, crime drama with unique
stories every week. All of them
showing off just some of PCI's skill
and talents.......Enjoy, and sorry
that more members could not be
featured, but there was a time
limit, that I probably exceeded.

my set up it is that way. Everyone has different computers and

will probably need help from your

In The Last Few Weeks, I
Have Received The Following from Mike
McNaught's Daughter...
The First Email: To Whom It May Concern,
I stumbled on this website recently. It came
up in the Google search for the McNaught
home in Glidden that was owned by my aunt.
Michael McNaught was my father. Jeaner is
my grandmother. It was really nice to read
my dad's class mate's memories. I had lost
my pictures of the house that Butch now
owns. He has given me a tour of the house
twice on my last 2 visits. Thank you,
Courtney McNaught-Tighe Valley Stream,
NY
The Second Email:
Thank you for getting back to
me. It's really nice to hear of your
memories. After my father finished high
school, he went to college where he met his
New York roommate. I don't remember his
name. He went home with him for a holiday
and that is how he met my mom. They married
in 1970 and had 3 children. Jennifer in
1972, Christopher in 1974 and myself in
1979. My parents separated in 1982 and their
divorce was finalized in 1985. My older
sister and brother would still visit Jeaner
and Garner in the 80's, but I didn't because
I was too afraid to fly without my mom. He
remarried to Lori sometime in the 80's. She
wasn't too fond of his children so we became
estranged from him and his family for a very
long time. I didn't speak to my father again
until 2002. I saw him for the first time
since 1982 in 2003. It was crushing to get
him back in our lives only to lose him so
soon in 2009. He missed out on quite a bit
since he passed. Jennifer got married and
has a now 3 year old son, Nicholas. I got
married 10/18/14 and Christopher walked me
down the aisle in his place. I had a small
picture frame with his photo tied with white
ribbon to my bouquet. Please share my
comments with your other classmates. If you
need any photos of way back when in Glidden,
I have an entire photo album to share. Thank
you,
Courtney McNaught-Tighe
So nice of Courtney to get in touch with us.
I emailed her how much we all liked Mike and
how much we respected him. (same for Jeaner
and Garner) A really great guy. I am hoping
we can get some old pictures from her. If
you wish to email Courtney, email me and I
will forward it to her. I will keep you
posted.......dbtryon

The
pictures of our 45th Class Reunion are
FINALLY ready for public consumption. BUT, I
warn you. Some are not very clear. MY FAULT,
my camera setting was a little off or I was
drinking a little too much Pepsi, Anyway I
tried to fix them the best that I could. We
have been scrambling to salvage what we can.
Tracy, Riedesel and C. Bentley also
contributed some of the better photos. IF
you have any pictures to share, just email
the best ones to me. I think that we have
photos of all of the classmates, but some
more than others. Spouses and guests were
more at random. Pictured is the
Bushmanmobile. All the way from Central
Missouri. Quite a gang. Dick has not changed
a bit.......
I think we all would agree
that we had a super, super time. We had
34-35 attend. About half of our class were
there. It was so great seeing so many,
especially those that I have not seen for
decades. We had a GREAT meal. A prayer by
Reverend Jim (remember Taxi?), a short
program MC'd by Warren and 4 messages from
those who could not attend were read and
played. We had lots of fun with the 3
teachers and all of the guests. Speeches
were given by Rick Douglas, Paul Stougard
(with sound effects) and Coach Bill Foval.
It was great to see so many and to hear the
stories.
My favorite part was the
little golf outing that we had. Gosh, we
laughed and laughed. Some of us were pretty
poor. After golfing, I sat and had a cool
drink with Rick, Pat Clausen, John Hall and
Tracy. That was my favorite moment of the
entire weekend. The stories were really
flowing, but we had to cut it short to head
to the main get together. Gosh, I had not
talked with John, Rick or Pat for ages.
Everyone was in such great spirits.

Lora, Lila, Paul, Warren

Fellow Classmates: It has been 45
years since we left the halls of GHS. We're
all not kids anymore, but some of us still
may think we are. I would encourage as many
of my classmates to attend this year, even
if you NEVER have before. Why? Because I'd
like to see you. Being a class is similar
to being a family. We never forget each
other, and we always wonder what each other
is doing; at least I do. To be frank, some
of us may not be around in five years or ten
years. I hope you'll reconsider if you're
not planning on attending. If you are,
let's get our money turned in and commit to
a great "family" reunion. I look forward
to seeing you all. Thanks for listening.
Sincerely, Jim Tracy

(It may take a little time to

Miss Fairchild recently sent us 32
unbelievable pictures from 1957 and a very
nice letter to the class of 68. We were
her first class. Well, actually half of us
were. Do you remember Kristie Dryden? Kenny
Cornelius? John White? or Barbara Brookbank?
How about Miss Shirbourn? or Dolsey
Lawrence? (third grade) OK, how about our
homecoming float? Enjoy the show, try to
name as many kids as you can. This is tough, but
AFTER you watch the video, Go To The
2nd Grade Button On Our Menu To The Left to
have everyone identified and look at each
picture individually. What a gold
mine of classic photos!! It is OBVIOUS that
this was some type of HONORS class. They all
look like bluebirds to me and I imagine most
of the crows and ravens were in the other
2nd grade section. Man, was I a snappy
dresser? ...even in those days......Oh, and
I am the guy with the quick draw. (I know,
Class Idiot)

On The Road.......
Had a great time with Jimmy Tracy a couple
of weeks ago. I picked him and his son up at
their country estate near Holstein, Iowa and
we drove to Sioux Falls, SD. My nephew,
Todd, Jerry's son, owns the Sioux Falls
Storm Indoor Football team. Needless to say,
we had great tickets and a great time. The
Storm were playing a playoff game and they
won. Afterward, I stayed with the Tracys,
met his wife and daughter and enjoyed the
wonderful fellowship and hospitality of the
Tracys. Great to reconnect with fellow
classmates. That is TWICE in 40 years Jim
and I have gotten together. We both are
looking forward to the class reunion.
Pictured is Jim and his son Adrian.

information about our 45th Class Reunion,
which will be a get together on Saturday,

North Main, across from the Carroll
Courthouse in Carroll. Some of us will

celebration on Saturday. Saturday's supper
is VERY informal and will begin with a
social hour at 5:00 p.m. and dinner to be
served at 7:00 p.m. CLICK

letter/form that we sent. We NEED TO KNOW by

effort to attend, we all would like to see

All School Reunion Aug. 2, Class of ‘68 Aug.
3
The annual GHS All-School Reunion, a
longstanding tradition, is scheduled Friday
evening, August 2 in Glidden at the Lincoln
Club (the old Mr. D's). Members of the Class
of ‘68 received a registration form for this
event in a February mailing. The next
evening (Aug. 3), the
Class of ‘68 45-Year Reunion
will be held at B&S’s 529, a sports bar and
restaurant in Carroll. Class members were
mailed a registration form for this in
April. We hope everyone will come to both
events. Might as well make a “Carroll
Country weekend” out of it! If you lost
either or both registration forms, e-mail
Warren Riedesel at
mrsrhts@mchsi.com. Make sure your
e-mail address is provided so he can re-send
either or both via e-mail. Walk-ins cannot
be accepted. Meal counts for both events
must be guaranteed to the caterer in advance
so get your registrations and checks in the
mail -- now!
WOOF,
WOOF......
Did you know that the "official" Drake
Bulldog is Warren Riedesel's grand dog?
Porterhouse leads the Drake basketball teams
onto the court every home game by chasing a
basketball. Woof, Woof!!! The most beautiful
bulldog in Des Moines........and he was
present at the press conference of their new
Men's basketball coach.

Remember
“scooping the loop” in Carroll during high
school and going past Don’s Place?
It was a seedy “pool hall” where farmers
played cards, drank beer and spit chew in a
spittoon. Don’s Place was at the northwest
corner of the Courthouse square. As we
started looking for a place to have this
summer’s class reunion, we discovered Don’s
Place has changed owners and image. It’s
been transformed into a cool new sports bar
called
B&S’s 529.
In
addition to the main bar area with
flat-panel screens all around, there’s
another bar upstairs plus a great party room
on the back of the main floor. That’s where
we’ll gather on Aug. 3 to celebrate 45 years
since we last “shagged the drag” in Carroll
as high school students. The good news is
the guys are all just as handsome, the girls
still just as good-looking as we were in
“the summer of love” in ‘67. Come to the
reunion, wear some flowers in your hair and
enjoy the beautiful new
B&S’s 529. W.Riedesel
Arlene
Rudi Provides Classic Photo
Tears in my
eyes....Every great while, I would run into
Arlene Rudi, in Glidden (usually at a
funeral). Arlene was my Chemistry teacher
(poor lady) and one of the wonderful Moms
who helped us to grow up in the fifties and
sixties. She sent me this classic photo of
Fritz' 6th birthday party. Geeze? Is that a
doll that I am holding? I forgot that I was
such a snappy dresser and is that a dunce
cap, already? Nice smile, Jim........ What
wonderful names from the past. Marty
Moorhouse, Sue Rudi, Nancy Shaner, and who
the heck was Tom Mogck? Maybe the
principal's kid? and Peggy S., Wow, it would
be great to see my old neighbor at the
45th....been a zillion years. I have not
seen Fritz since 1969, either. Wow. always
wishing everyone the best!!

Cheer,
Cheer For Old Glidden High
Shake down the thunder from the sky!
Yeah, I know, this could really flop, but
maybe it is time to shake down some thunder.
You might remember me bumbling and a
stumbling thru the halls of GHS. The guy who
sat in the back of the classroom (it was
always alphabetical order). The guy who
never did study much. The guy who was kicked
in the leg by Ruth Robb and slapped on a
school bus by Elbie Davidson. The only guy
immature enough to make Mr. Lutes angry. The
guy who was kicked out of Isaac Jenkins’
music class on his FIRST day (remember that,
Steve?). The guy who was sent to the office
for putting a stinking wasp nest in the
teacher's desk? Yeah I know, what a moron!
Class Idiot? Dumbo without the ears? Homer
Garp is the name and irresponsibility is my
game.
OK, we have this problem.,,,
